Visions become real when you find like-minded visionaries to join with you. We did. Our leaders are experienced professionals with a range of expertise as Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Registered Nurses, Senior Executives, and Managers. They all are passionate about the mission of Celestine Foundation.
In 2018, my vibrant, energetic mom, Daisey Celestine, fell and suffered a paralyzing spinal cord injury. Despite the conservative diagnosis, she was determined to walk again. After a year of intense therapy, she worked her way back to being able to walk with the use of a walker. In January 2019, she was diagnosed with kidney cancer. She succumbed to the disease on March 29, 2019. She was 81 years old.
The impact of these illnesses thrust me and my family into a world of advanced medicine, rehabilitation, insurance protocols, and caregiving. We needed help and it divinely came through loving and caring people.
I asked my mom, as we sat in the rehabilitation facility the first night, if she would allow me to start a nonprofit organization to share what we were learning. She loved the idea. The Celestine Foundation was a dream in 2018. It became a reality in May 2022.
With the priceless contributions of our board of directors, Celestine Foundation has a vibrant & ambitious vision to impact our community. We look forward to sharing it with you.
